23 March Weird Weather

We got up all prepared to potter down to the weekly market and it poured down. So that put a stop to our last market meander for this stay.

Instead I managed to finish off my embroidery project while Ian measured up for a future paint job. Then, once there was a break in the rain we went off in search of mattresses for the bunk bed. We have a new bunk bed but unfortunately the mattresses we had previously are much too small.

We went over to Empuiabrava where according to an on line search there is a mattress shop. Unfortunately being a Sunday it was closed! However next door there was a crafty/Poundland type shop which seemed to stock all these things that we couldn't do without!!! One large shopping basket later and we were ready to head back with our goodies.

Disappointingly the new bike seat covers ended up being too small, despite Ian giving them a good stretch, so we'll be returning those tomorrow. Our other goodies have been put into use already - frying pan, bathroom cleaner, bike handles, dustpan and brush, potato peeler and whisk.

After lunch Ian replaced the kitchen light - last one that needs doing at the mo.

We then went for a walk as the sun was breaking through. The sea had come well up and over the prom at our end.

The petanque play area flooded and covered with sea weed.

More flooding outside some of the restaurants on the front.

Jellyfish have been washed up all along the prom. And the smell of rotting jellyfish is back!!

After our late afternoon stroll right into Roses we managed to get back in time to see a lovely sunset. I've made a start on a new baby sized knitting project this evening.
