It also made a significant difference to the ferry crossing. Our 10.05am ferry was very different to the when we take an earlier crossing as these are usually full of coach loads going on school trips. This morning the majority of those travelling were silver surfers drinking coffee and tucking into pastries.
We had a damp but thankfully smooth and trouble free crossing (despite doing lots of sailing any lumpy ferry crossing is likely to have me lying on the floor 🤢).
After about the first half an hour the skies darkened, lightning started to flash and for most of our drive we had heavy rain (much like what had been forecast for southern England today).
On our return to the car the sun started to break through and Ian spotted a rather huge but sodden caterpillar trying to wriggle it's way to a drier spot.
We arrived at our hotel in Evereux as everything was drying out. A lovely evening walk to explore the town, see the Cathédrale Notre-Dame d'Évreux.
Anyway we returned to our room after having racked up over 10k steps and made a start in walking off some of our dinner.
Tomorrow we continue our southward trip to Clermont Ferrand for the night. Hopefully another leisurely start to the day as we've only got about 6 hours to go.
