24 August Final Day in Edinburgh

A late night last night as the flight into Edinburgh was delayed so a leisurely start to the morning. Ian also had to repack his bags in preparation for his overnight coach to Portsmouth tonight.

We decided on a tram ride into Edinburgh via the Park and Ride facility at Ingliston just by the airport. A packed tram into the city full of Fringe goers.

After dumping Ian's bags off at left luggage in the Bus Station we grabbed a spot of lunch before we did a few touristy bits.

First stop a visit to the 'Swuidge' shop I had to check out for Amy before seeing the nearby memorial to Greyfriars Bobby. If you don't know the history - in 1858, the dog known as Greyfriars Bobby, followed it's master's remains to the graveyard where it remained in vigil until it died 14 years later. A very faithful friend.

Nearby is another statue that is slightly worn as everyone rubs it's nose!

In the same graveyard where Greyfriars Bobby is remembered there's a gravestone that apparently provided some inspiration to J.K. Rowling. Only relevant if you're familiar with the Harry Potter stories.

Our first show today was in support of our nephew Ben who was performing in his university acapella group. It was lovely to catch up with him before their final performance of '74th Annual Sunger Games' and again afterwards before he headed off on his last evening out at the Fringe.

Advertised with their 4 star review. Some fantastic singing with 'Gold' being my favourite performance of their production.

A short walk, coffee and a doughnut later and we found our next show's venue. This time it was an improvised musical.

A very impressive and funny musical based on ideas from the audience. Called 'Behead Over Heels' it was based on couple's therapy in the court of Henry VIII, in the style of Cats, High School Musical and the Book of Mormon. A clever concept which we're sure must've been pre-prepared somehow.

Anyway a great evening of entertainment, dinner out with free pizzas (don't ask!), a brisk walk to drop Ian at the Bus Station and an easy journey back via tram and car.

We're looking forward to a restful tomorrow 😄.
