21 July Exploring Aberystwyth

No rain - yippee!

After a caravan bound day due to the rain yesterday it was definitely a day to get out.

With my rucksack packed with essentials (you never know when binoculars might come in handy and my first aid kit, anorak and drink are a must) I headed off on my day out. Stopping off in Aberaeron for a little potter on route I arrived in Aberystwyth about 11.30am.

A view of the river which flows into Aberaeron harbour.

The journey to Aberystwyth was uneventful, other than motorists who always tailgate when you're sticking to the 20mph limit. It definitely makes me stick to it when someone is trying to make me go faster 😃.

Parking in the small retail centre I purchased some more Callipo style ice lolly moulds (you push up the lolly) before starting on my walk.

Alexandra Hall- Mum's student accommodation in the late 1950s when she was here at the university. Currently undergoing a bit of an update.

Mum always talked about kicking the bar at the end of the prom when going for a walk so I did it on both ends of my walk.

Looking towards the prom.

Ruins of Aberystwyth castle.

The other end of the prom at the harbour.

Looking back across South Beach  with the castle and War Memorial in the distance.

Having walked all along the prom going from Constitution Hill (town end) to the marina end via the castle it was time for a well earned cuppa. Even better when it was free (I'd saved my Costa beans for a free coffee and the cake was my birthday treat from Costa 😃).

It was then back to the van for the last few hours of sunshine to read outside. A very enjoyable day.
