2nd May Wash Day

Part of living over here is the regular trog to the launderette when we have a decent load full. With just a short walk round the corner to our local lavanderia and a handful of coins and we're all sorted.

When there's decent weather I can do some by hand but for the big stuff when it's cool and rainy it just won't dry on the airer outside. So after breakfast we took our 2 bags full and loaded up the machine. Then setting the alarm for the length of the wash we returned back for a quick cuppa.

With the forecast indicating rain later we opted to use the tumble dryer and set it in high heat to ensure in the 17 minutes cycle that it got dried out.

While waiting for the washing to dry we took a short walk along the prom just to pass the time. Lovely to see blue skies today.

Back to the launderette we opened the drier and found that our washing was absolutely scorching. We had to flap it about to cool it down and found a plastic zip had melted it was so hot!! Additionally our 2 bags of washing fitted into 1 bag so we were concerned that everything had shrunk 😂. Fortunately the duvet cover still fitted and I think my knickers don't look like they've shrunk. Although everything has now taken on a crumpled look! Hopefully with the forthcoming warm weather the wrinkles will drop out.

With our clothes put away we then drove over to Empuibrava for a quick coffee and catch up with friends. Not so quick in the end as we were there for a couple of hours sitting out by their pool, overlooking the canal. It was only the impending downpour, with dark grey clouds overhead, that brought our meet up to an end. Just as well because it started to rain as we headed back.

With Pauline and Tim arriving in the morning our afternoon has been spent tidying, sorting and putting things away. Having brushed and cleaned everywhere that's my domestic chores done for a while. I needed a sit down to recover from the shock to my system!

Then a trip early evening over to see Richard on his boat, to return tools we'd borrowed, aided my recovery - especially the large G&T. Whilst on board we had what we hoped is the last heavy rainfall for a few days.

We're now getting fed up with this rubbish weather. Therefore the red sky  over the mountains offered an encouraging sign for a positive change. Fingers crossed!
