20th May Exploring Down the Coast

Before I start of today's adventures I must recall a lunch time incident on Saturday that I'd totally forgotten to include in the blog.

With the weather being lovely and the view from the balcony ever changing, we had lunch outside. This enables us to watch the parachutists in the distance and the boats on the canal. A lovely relaxing lunch.

As we normally do we had a variety of foods laid out with different fillings for a baguette sandwich or added to salad. For Saturday I'd boiled some eggs so they were in their shells on the table, along with the cheese and other items.

We were all tucking into our lunch when Freddie moved a bowl that had been keeping the eggs in one place. And before we knew what happened one egg made a bit for freedom and rolled across the table and fell off the table. What's the problem with that? Well it fell off the side of the table where there is an opening to the balcony so we saw it fall and waited for the splat noise as it dived 3 floors down on to the patio of the ground floor apartment. Luckily no one was there but we can imagine the conversation about the sea gulls laying eggs or flying chickens 😂.

Anyway back to today.

With the likelihood of rain we packed our bags with our anoraks and whizzed off in Rolo to explore the coast line a bit further afield than we'd been before.

First stop was in Torello de Montgri which had a market! And I'm never one to miss an opportunity despite Ian trying to distract Amy and I as we drove past it 😃.

We had to try out freshly made churros - yum!

The Ile de Medes off L'Estartit in the distance on the right. Where we were yesterday could just about be made out in the distance.

The coast road was very pretty with twisty and turny roads taking us up and over the hills with little bays popping up along the way.

One of the bays was Sa Reine. A lovely secluded beach and a handful of restaurants. An ideal spot to stop for our late lunch.

Greek Salad for me today and it was delicious, especially as we could sit outside to enjoy our lunch.

Our drive back to Roses took us near Begur Castle. This looks like a good spot for Ian and I to return to, as it looks like a good walk up to the castle. A day for when we don't have the threat of rain as we started to have some rain as we drove past.

By the time we'd arrived back to Roses the clouds had cleared and we had sunshine. So a bit of a bizarre day as we'd expected a downpour in the afternoon - not that I'm complaining.

Hopefully a similar day tomorrow as we're thinking of a trip to Figueres.
