18th May Over to France

A dry morning at the start of our day, when we had breakfast about an hour earlier than normal, as we were on airport duty. We would have been up even without our taxi duty as a chainsaw was roaring away outside.

One of the palm trees, affected last year by a type of beetle that has caused many palm trees to die in the area, was being cut down. With Rolo parked just behind the lorry we felt that moving it out of harm's way was a good idea (glad we weren't parked by the wall as the tree was swung right over it).

We moved Rolo just as the lorry was loaded with the tree.

Three more trees need to be removed so we wonder when these will go.

Driving over the Spanish/French border (you don't stop driving as it's not manned), the rain started and stayed with us until we got to Perpignan. In the end the damp conditions stopped and the sun appeared just as Amy and Freddie were coming through the main arrivals door at our pick up point.

After lunch we drove up to Castello d'Empuries where National Museum Day was being supported. All the museums had open house (free entry) so we first visited the Historic Prison Museum.

Dome dodgy looking prisoners 🤣.

Stopped for a cuppa in the town square.

Then we tried grinding flour in the Old Flour Mill Museum.

A motley looking crew!

Then it was back to enjoy a sunny evening on the balcony before dinner. Hopefully a dry day tomorrow as we're out on a trip up to Punto Falconera as part of Roses day.
