11th May Long Walk

With everywhere getting distinctly busier we decided on ditching using the car in favour of a walk into Empuriabrava. Even though we did the walk with Pauline and Tim last week it seemed longer this week! Probably because it was a tad warmer with blue skies and sunshine with us all day.

Stopping for a snap near the canals in Empuriabrava.

This week we spotted a new croc (type of shoe) fashion. They're like slip ones but look like fish, sharks etc. In all sorts of colours so suitable for everyone.

We also managed to find the unidentified fruit. We're pretty sure it's quince, especially as we saw quite a lot of it for sale in the fruit and veg section of today's market.

On our return journey we stopped for drinks in the Mini Golf - not as busy as the restaurants and bars on the sea front.

Walking across the nature reserve we saw a load of mates and foals. We had seen them before but they hadn't been as close to the fence. Quite unbelievable to see so many together with foals about the same age - it led to a bit of a discussion about the purpose. Race horses (probably not), riding school material, prime meat for the French market? 🤔

Anyway we returned for a very late lunch and a well deserved rest. I had achy feet and this evening Ian has been a bit of an old crock. Just a short walk into Roses for the market tomorrow - don't want to overdo it!
