9th April Poonami

This morning it was raining so Dad didn't walk to the village shop to get the paper (I told Dad not to worry about the rain making his hair frizzy 😂). So Ian and I took on the task.

But first we had to get our coats out of Rolo which was when we noticed the Poonami!!

We reckon a very large pigeon must've been sitting in the same spot over Rolo for the past few days! This is the good side and the roof was heavily splattered.

On our return from collecting the newspaper we set to with whatever tools we could find in the garage. A hoe was used to clear the roof, a small trowel soon sorted out the windows and then a scrubbing brush and a watering can of water from the water butt helped get rid of most of it. A bucket of warm, soapy water finished off Rolo's make over, although the roof still needs some work.

Anyway once refuelled with caffeine and chocolate hob nobs it was time to start on our journey south to Kent. We were having a break at Rob's as it's sort of half way and we were stopping on route to renew Kate's flowers.

It was blowing a gale when we got to the churchyard so we had to wrap up to keep warm. We found with the wind that it took some good team work to get her flowers in the container in one piece. With the sellophane blowing all over the place and the bag I was putting the old flowers and rubbish in ready to take off, a lady walking her dogs must've wondered what we were doing with scissors, a water bottle and flower food. Anyway the end result with the hyacinths that have flowered since last week was quite colourful.

We managed to time our stop with Rob to match his crumpet break. So once replenished and caught up on news we continued on to the M40 and M25 - never a good journey. This time we had delays due to a lorry broken down in the middle lane on the opposite side and then road works near Chertsey. At least we arrived back while it was still light for dinner and a welcome rest.
