6th April Lunch Out

A sunny day today with a bit of a breeze about lunch time - probably Storm Kathleen having a blow.

After a sedate start to the morning reading the papers and helping with the crossword we headed out to Bishop's Castle for some grocery shopping and lunch. Our first challenge of the morning was getting Mum and Dad enscounsed in Rolo. Dad was straight forward as he sat in the front but Mum caused a bit of hilarity with getting her out (Rolo is a cosy 2 door with front seats that doesn't really fold forward a great deal). Her forward exit was causing a bit of an issue so we ended up with a rear exit. Mum having to turn around inside Rolo, get a leg out and then reverse. It ended up being quite a successful and neat manoeuvre.

The Co-op provided most of the necessities for the next few days and the butcher had a juicy piece of beef for our roast tomorrow. Laden down we filled Rolo's boot and drove up to the top of Bishop's Castle - the steep high street would've had me on my knees let alone the parents!

We had a delicious lunch in the Bishop's Castle Hotel which has had a new conservatory extension (we sat out in it). Overlooking a waterfall and a good view of the conservatory doors which flummuxed a few customers - as it was a new wooden door it was sticking a bit. We discovered that there was a bit of a technique to get it opened. Ian was on door opening duties a few times when it stuck.

Feeling very stuffed we enjoyed an afternoon in the warmth of the conservatory back home. Snoozing, reading and working out the best route for short haul flights to New Zealand - you never know we could be returning next year with Dad!

Tomorrow's forecast looks a bit damp so it looks like a leisurely Sunday with a tasty roast to look forward to.
