15th February Down South to Family

Not much to report today as we have driven south from our bach at Baylys Beach to south of Te Awamutu. It took ages!!

After an hour we stopped off for a walk at the Kauri Bushman's Memorial reserve. With lots of problems with disease killing off the trees we had to clean our shoes.

With open sandals Amy and I ended up with wet feet!

The Kauri trees are huge! They can be really tall and wide.

We have eventually named our hire car - George! It needs a few new tyres - a job for tomorrow.

Our trip took us on the outskirts of Auckland. You can see Skytower on the right - we'll be up there in a week or so.

Anyway we eventually arrived about 6.30pm - lovely at last to see Bridget and Simon. Unpacked the car and had dinner which took me to after 8pm here so after my normal 7am UK time for you to read the blog.

The pool is very inviting so we're heading out for a night time swim and star gazing. Still in mid 20s tonight - lovely!
