11th December Lost & Found

Mum and I enjoyed a full day in Shrewsbury tackling the Christmas shopping. Armed with a pull along trolley stuffed with bags, a long shopping list and enthusiasm we left Ian and Dad fully equipped to fend for themselves for the day. Well, I took the car so there would be no nipping out for supplies, unless the village shop had it in stock.

Our journey to Shrewsbury park and ride took slightly longer than normal. A lorry had broken down at the main roundabout causing significant tailbacks on our way in and the park and ride entrance had moved! We merrily drove up the road to where Meole Brace P&R was in the summer but the road was closed! A quick U turn and help from a local and we were back on track. Luckily we saw the green P&R bus coming out of a nearby, newly build housing estate so we knew we were nearly there but would have to wait for the next bus as it had just gone!

Anyway, 15 minutes later we were sitting in the bus shelter where I discovered that rather annoyingly I'd lost a glove. So with one cold and one warm hand we boarded the next bus in to town. Just £2 return for me and £1 return for Mum with her bus pass (not bad for parking all day and being dropped off right in the town centre). First stop was for a coffee - a bit of caffeine to give us the much needed energy to get up and down the hilly bits. Here we also constructed a shopping list which helped to sort out which shops to go to and provided encouragement as we crossed off items.

I spotted this toilet roll holder. The sort of thing that Ian would make.

Several hours later we'd ticked everything except one off the list. And even that item had been sorted as it's on order for collection in Ludlow tomorrow. Time for lunch. Pizza Express beckoned so an Italian lunch for the savvy shoppers.

It was just starting to get dark as we made our way to the bus back to the car. Christmas lights all around the town certainly put us in the holiday mood as we carried our bags and pulled our well stocked trolley to the bus stop. Me with one warm hand and one getting a bit chilly.

Imagine my delight when we got off the bus and walked in the direction of the car, to see my glove splayed on the ground. Just lying there waiting to be picked up! It's now safely back in my coat pocket after warming my cold hand 😄. Luckily it hadn't rained otherwise it would've been very soggy.

It sounds like we're off to Ludlow tomorrow and we'll be present wrapping at some stage as well. All very organised here!
