23rd November Slightly Sozzled

A good night's sleep at last! The wind had reduced dramatically so no crashes and bangs to disturb the much needed beauty sleep. 

We woke up to snow on the Pyrenees in the distance so must be much colder up there. Definitely getting us in the Christmas mood.

With a lunch out planned with our friend Richard, who lives on his boat while he stays here, we headed out for a walk to Roses. I knew that we'd be having a very leisurely lunch and that an after lunch walk wouldn't happen.

As a result of all the wind the sand looked incredibly smooth. No one in sight on the beach but there were a few more people than yesterday who'd ventured out for a walk.

After a speed walk back to get ready and collect Richard, we managed to get to Hotel Aire d'Empuries by 1pm. This is the place we'd been to before and were very impressed with.

The menu was different to the one we had last time and we were spoilt for choice, especially as you have pre dinner snacks, 2 starters, main, dessert, wine, coffee and liqueur.

My chocolate mousse and hazelnut ice cream was delicious. All perfectly decorated with edible flowers. We'll definitely be back here next year.

As I was driving, Ian and Richard made the most of the wine and liqueurs, so I had two slightly sozzled and very talkative passengers on the way back. We were then invited on board for after lunch drinks - Richard is very generous with his measures so now we're back in the apartment Ian is having an after lunch snooze at 7pm! His snoring is vying with the wind that has just picked up. I'm not sure if the wind whistling and howling is louder than his snoring or not 😅.

Anyway hopefully the wind will die down by the morning so we can return the bikes. It'll be a walk back afterwards so plenty of exercise to burn off the calories from today's lunch.
