27th September 'Penguin' Spotting

After our rest day yesterday we thought we'd combine a walk with an opportunity to snorkel. So with lunch packed, drinks, swimming stuff, masks and snorkels we were ready to go.

We drove in Rolo up to Roses marina where we managed to park in the shade. Here we started our walk along the coast path to a couple of bays north of Roses.

The fishermen were busy mending their nets.

On our coast path walk I thought I saw a penguin like bird huddled on the rock - much to Ian's amusement. As if a penguin would be swimming about in the Med thousands of miles from their normal habitat 😅. It did look like a penguin though!

Anyway, on route we saw loads of small lizards scampering about on the path and down the rocks. The first ones we've seen this trip to Spain. There were also several colourful butterflies flitting in between the bright flowers lining the coast path.

Soaking up the sunshine.

A lovely blue sea - ready for us to jump in.

We had a little cove nearly to ourselves. A good snorkel with different sorts of fish and star fish.

View across the bay from where we snorkelled.

We had a lovely lounge on the beach before walking back to Rolo. It was still in the high 20Cs when we got back about 5.45pm, with the sun bright on the balcony, so perfect for a glass of Spanish bubbly 😄.

After another energetic day I think we'll probably have a chilled day tomorrow. We need to get some food supplies and a mozzie killing spray as they continue snacking on us!
