We drove down to the beach front of Empuriabrava and parked up at the end by the River Muga. Here we started a riverside walk to Castello d'Empúries.
The riverside walk takes you right to Castelló d'Empúries, a medieval town.
We arrived at lunch time so everything, other than the cafés and restaurants, was closed for siesta.
Pont Vell - Romanesque style, from 13th Century. Only the arrowed arch is the original bit. Ian wasn't too sure whether the long walk to see the bridge was worth it 😁.
I had to have a go! A 19th century tower, Torre Carlina, in the background which is now residential.
We took the same route back along the river side. About 13km and over 3 hours walking. Both of us needed a rest and to put our feet up when we got back. Tomorrow will be a rest day but Ian reckons we'll still go on a walk 😅.
