With a sunlounger to replace, as unfortunately it got broken by one of our rentals, we drove to Figueres. As it's the end of the summer there isn't much in the way of outdoor furniture around to buy. We have only managed to find one green plastic sunlounger in the Carrefour supermarket near us so Ian suggested a trip to the next town about a 15 minute journey away.
As we've not really explored Figueres before, (we normally just drive through the outskirts on our route from France to Roses) we thought we'd play the tourist and have a meander, before going to the large Carrefour. We managed to find a parking spot a short walk from the centre and started our walk.
We'd only been walking a short distance and Ian noticed a market type shop, similar to the Asia Market we have in Empuriabrava. After mooching around we found a blue sunlounger which fitted the bill (I hadn't been taken with the dark green one and this was €10 cheaper as well 😁.) Purchase made and a return to Rolo, as we didn't fancy carrying it round town. Then we were back on route to the town centre.
A whole square of Dali examples. Love the way they display the art on tyres. Maybe the drivers round here are a bit kamakazee.
The front of the Dali Theatre and Museum. Statues waving baguettes about and a deep sea diver on the balcony!🤔.
The outside with Dali eggs on top. Decorated with Catalan loaves of bread made of plaster. Why not?!
We contemplated paying €17 each to go in the museum but unfortunately you have to book on line. And Ian had spotted a nice cafe which had mini doughnut/brioche chocolate chip buns. So for €4.20 for our 2 coffees and 2 buns we weren't too disappointed about having to visit the museum on another day 😅.
In the tourist information there was a Don Quixote exhibition. There was also a very helpful member of staff who loaded us up maps and information for local places to visit. Luckily this was as we returned to Rolo to head back for a swim and lunch.
This afternoon Ian mended one of the shutters that one of the rentals had managed to jam 😬. Just as well that we have a ladder and tools here to sort it out. About an hour later it was all back together and working.
I've also had the sunlounger in action and enjoyed the end of my second book of our stay. It's been a warm evening so I've been sat out on the balcony until 9pm and Ian has been catching up on the Sailing competition in St Tropez on YouTube. He was pleased that GB won.
