So guess where I was at 8am this morning. Yes... down the lane, in a ditch waving my phone around but this time without the rain trickling down my neck 😅. This time I ended up on the line with Michelle in the Darlington technical team - they are certainly spread around the country.
After providing Dad's details, inside leg measurement, details of his breakfast and the time he went to bed (yes I know I'm being facetious, but since Sunday this is the 7th person who I've had to go through security checks with) I managed to get reassurance (heard that before!) that an engineer would be out between 1-6pm today. So plans for our morning out lawnmower shopping were shelved just in case they turned up early.
Mum and I walked with her dog down to the local shop before lunch. I spotted this sign on a neighbour's workshop.
They weren'tearly! However, a very efficient engineer turned up about 1.15pm and finished the job eventually at about 3.45pm. There ended up being a significant amount of detective work required to locate the problem and mend it. This involved ladders up the side of the house and in the house, wires being followed around the house, trips to the exchange and to the BT box down in the village as well as lots of beeping and buzzing as various bits of kit were used to identify if a signal was making its way through.
In between him starting and finishing I actually drove Dad to Craven Arms, about 8 miles away, for him to get a much needed haircut. Dad looks very spick and span 😊.
As I've been sorting out the BT line today I delayed my departure to Warwickshire. Off there in the morning and Ian, plus all of his kit, is due in on tomorrow's 2.15pm train, so I've got yo get there to collect the intrepid adventurer.
