Ian spent his first night on Dartmoor, not as I expected under canvas, but had opted to sleep in the minibus that he was in charge of.
He's been enjoying sharing his morning views with the wildlife. A Dartmoor pony foal scampering about.
As his flight was North Terminal this rather threw all my best laid plans for dropping him off at the long term car park where we normally get a shuttle bus. This was because the normal place was in South Terminal! Anyway, we managed to negotiate our way through the drop off system and fingers crossed got through in about 2 minutes - Peter leapt out with his rucksack, when I stopped at a pedestrian crossing, and the barriers raised for my exit without wanting payment.
I then headed off towards Shropshire through relatively quiet traffic. It was lovely to have a midway stop off for a cuppa and natter with my brother and family. After some yummy Toffee Krispie (which brought back memories of childhood birthday tea) it was back on the road.
Rather pleasingly my stop had been perfectly timed with avoiding rush hour traffic through Bromsgrove and Kidderminster as the roads were clear. Straight through to Mum and Dad's without any holdups by tractors or animals that are all part of country living - woohoo! 🎉.
Meanwhile, back on Dartmoor Ian has been yomping about and tucking into his rations for dinner. Looks delicious 😅.
I had the advantage of a lovely home cooked dinner at the end of my day. Not sure tucking into a boil in the bag dinner has quite the same appeal 🤔. Hopefully Ian has an opportunity for some real food over the next 5 weeks, as all day breakfast in a bag everyday might put him off scrambled egg for life.
