19th June Road Trip South

Off south today as we return with Peter for a family wedding at the weekend.

We usually leave about 7am when we make this journey but as we had a meal deal as part of our hotel booking we had breakfast before leaving. Peter joined us so we all tucked into a full Scottish before getting on the way at 8.30.

It was at this point that we realised that Ian has now joined that exclusive club of getting old and doodally. We all jumped in Rolo and as Ian was driving he removed his sweatshirt to be comfortable at the wheel. Beady eyed Peter from the back seat espyed that Ian had managed to don his shirt inside out. And he hadn't even got dressed in the dark 😄. I suppose it's better than my recent error of putting my knickers on inside out😅.

Anyway we got on the road and had a slight detour to visit the Holy Island. It ended up being a quick visit as literally there is one road to the island across the causeway with a car park with the lowest charge being £6 for 3 hours. As we had only wanted to make a short stop for a coffee it seemed a bit dotty to spend £6 for the privilege of parking for half an hour. We've decided to plan a longer visit when we return in the future.

So we had a quick drive where it was possible through the village and saw the castle in the distance. With only 160 residents and 650,000 visitors annually it was a bit of a tourist venue with loads of coaches and walkers. Quite glad not to stay

Heading across the causeway. You have to make sure you time your crossing right to avoid getting your car washed away😄.

Back on the mainland we continued our journey and made a few stops. Eventually back in Aylesford by 7.30pm and it's sweltering in comparison to up north 🥵. Probably take us a day to acclimatise to the weather down south.
