16th June Lochleven Castle

Yet another bright, sunny day. We're certainly having a fab week of weather up here in Scotland.

Today we had a little road trip over to Kinross where we got a passenger ferry over to Lochleven Castle. A small boat which could hold about 12 passengers took us across the loch (a bit lumpy and splashy at times but we were sheltered under the front canopy). Landing at a small pier it was then just a short walk to the castle.

On our way

Kinross House on the mainland in the background.

The main castle tower

Finding lots of nooks and crannies.

Down in the basement

On our way down from where Mary Queen of Scots was held prisoner for a year. One of the oldest Scottish castles, built in the 1300s, Robert the Bruce also lived here.

This evening has been a sweltering one so not much movement going on after our dinner. Just managed to get to the freezer for the last few ice creams though 😄.
