5th August Exploring Peel

Blue skies and sunshine but very deceptive as it's still quite chilly. If you're in the shelter it's lovely and warm but any hint of wind and it's an extra layer on.

Today we've been finding out about our options for getting around the island. We've bought 5 day GoExplore passes that will give us unlimited bus, electric train, steam train, tram and horse drawn carriage journeys! Our English Heritage membership also gives us free access to all the Manx Heritage sites.

We've visited Peel Castle situated above the harbour and walked along the lovely sandy beach front. Too full from lunch for ice-cream but I'm sure I'll make room for one tomorrow.

Stopping in the harbour cafe Ian spent some cash and now we have Manx money. I assumed as it was pounds and pence that the pound coins would be the same as at home. Nope!

We'll have to make sure we spend these before we leave

Tomorrow we plan to go to Douglas and we'll see how many different types of transport we can use. There's a carnival here in Peel on Sunday along the seafront so I imagine it'll be very busy here. Lots to do and see.
