18 & 19 July Forgot yesterday! Boiler Not Working

7.30am this morning, as I had my first potter about, I suddenly realised that I hadn't written up my blog for yesterday so apologies. Not that much really happened.

Yesterday after breakfast Mum and I decluttered a cupboard (how many table cloths and bath mats do you really need Mum?)😂. Some stuff has been recycled, a bit binned and the rest rehomed or tided providing space for stuff that has been in a heap outside of the cupboard. A good job done.

It was a lovely sunny day, ideal for sitting outside.

I was on lunch duty, as Mum fancied a spaghetti bolognaise and I'm apparently the pasta queen! So I made a big one so there's enough to go in the freezer for another time.

After lunch I made my way back to the van, via Aberystwyth to do a food shop. First thing on arriving was to check if the hot water boiler  had been fixed. I tried and it worked first time - hot shower in the morning!

Once unpacked it was a late tea and then I made a start on project duck using scraps of wool.

Friday is market day in New Quay. A chance to pop into the Memorial Hall for a nosey and then I'm going to try out my birthday binoculars on dolphin spotting.

Well this morning was a major disappointment. Boiler not working!! Aarrggh!! On the phone again and I had a bloke down from maintenance again. Taps on and off, water pressure checked, boiler tinkered with and it seemed that there was something wrong with the diaphragm. He went away to consult boiler manuals and returned with a colleague. Anyway it's ended up with the boiler having the gas inlet cleaned and batteries changed so no big financial outlay at present. Fingers crossed it keeps igniting first time from now on.

So after a later start than anticipated I took the beach route to New Quay and back as it was about 2 hours before low tide when I headed out. Perfect for the return walk as no rock climbing at the New Quay end required.

Tide's out.

No not a dolphin or a spec of dirt on my lens. A fighter jet was doing manoeuvres around us and gave a fly past in front of the harbour where I was dolphin spotting.

My birthday binoculars were brilliant - a good view of one bottle nosed dolphin that made it's way across the bay. The common harbour dolphins weren't out today so no leaping displays.

The tide was further out on my return.

Cei Bach seems to be very sea weedy this year. It needs a good storm to clear it.

After lunch, a spot of reading and a chill in the sun with a lolly decided to give the outside of the van a bit of a spruce.

Definately looks better after I'd given it a good seeing to with hot soapy water and the mop.

Doing one side was the extent of my cleaning endeavours today. I'm saving the other side for later in the week - I don't want to do all the jobs in one hit. Best to space them out 😀.

After today's glorious sunshine the forecast for Wales looks like tomorrow will be a wash out. I might take myself off to Carmarthen for the day.
