1st March North to Taree

Our first night's B& B

After a very noisy evening from the wildlife (we found out from our B&B host that it was frogs), and a warm night with the air conditioning on all the time, as everyone except me was too hot (I have to sleep under the covers as I find it too cold 😂) we started on our day's road trip.

We started off by doing a bit of local history. We found out that Cooranbong is where the Church of the Seventh Adventist originated. This is Sunnyside House where it all started.

The first beach we stopped at today was Catherine Hill Bay - listed in the top 100 Australian beaches. The shark warning is a bit off putting.

Australia either doesn't have many beaches to choose from or this was number 100. Other than the long, sandy beach we couldn't see much going for it 🤔.

Next stop was Cave Beach. We felt that as we'd done Cathedral Caves on South Island these were a bit miniscule in comparison. We did find a local cafe for our mid morning latte.

Always one for a laugh 😂.

Our next stop was Newcastle. We had planned to go in the ocean pool but lack of parking meant a long walk to get there. We therefore weighed up the pros and cons of swimming in the sea.

As it was a life guard patrolled beach and others were swimming and surfing we reckoned the likelihood of sharks was small. Ian also said that as I was the only one that resembled a seal that the sharks would head for me!! This meant the rest of them would be safe. Great!!

After a lovely afternoon on the beach, this evening we're at a motel just off the Pacific Highway in Taree. Overlooking the Manning river we have a decent view which makes up for the rubbish WiFi signal. We were given an upgrade though with a huge spa bath to soak in and relax.

Thankfully our car has very efficient air conditioning so our drive has been cool. We're still acclimatising to the heat and humidity but enjoyed a lovely dry day today.

Let's see what tomorrow brings.
