10th September Early Morning Swim

Well we did get out for our morning swim before breakfast along with quite a few others. (No photo evidence though as my phone was left back in the apartment. A description would be: 2 unfit, under 60s, with sun tans currently only going up to knee level from consistent shorts wearing over the summer, tentatively entering the sea before plunging wholeheartedly in! Then drying off on green palm leaf towels - birthday gifts this year 😊. Ian was going for more of a power swim doing the crawl while I stuck to breast stroke and wading in the water. Luckily the water didn't seem too cold but that was probably because the air temperature was only just starting to warm up.

After breakfast we decided against a trip to the Sunday market (shock! horror! A market that I didn't go to 😄). Instead we walked up to Lidl to stock up on essentials - we would normally drive to get a proper shop in but parking is still at a premium. Hopefully parking will improve tomorrow once weekend visitors head home 🤞.

We popped into the Spar shop which has a new bakery section. I spotted pasties are made with different coloured pastry and have the filling marked on the top - I assume in food colouring.

We managed to get 2 rucksacks and 1 bag's worth back without collapsing in the increasing heat. I've no idea how people managed in the 40C heat they were having throughout the summer. We do have the benefit of a balcony that only gets the sun after 3pm so we can sit out in the shade until then and then get the sun as it's cooling down.

This afternoon Ian has had the hammock out.

Later on I could hear snoring and found him in a cocoon 😅. I was expecting him to be a bit like a boil in the bag when he surfaced but remarkably seemed quite cool.

With mealtimes on the balcony, a glass of sangria, a siesta and a good book in the sun shine this has started off as good stay in Spain 😎.
