19th April Arrived!

As we didn't have to rush today we had a lesuirely start, having a typically French breakfast (yogurt, juice, french bread, honey and loads of coffee and hot chocolate) before leaving our hotel by 9.15am. First stopping at the local fuel station to fill up and then getting on the road.

We've taken a very different route this time and enjoyed some new scenery and experiences as we headed south.

Service station coffee is a serious business in France. You have to choose your coffee bean!

Lunch beside the river at St Antonin Noble Val - a medieval town

An interesting bug hitched a ride on our wing mirror

Rolo had the roof down for our countryside trip

Rolo having a rest in the sunshine 😎

We managed most of our journey on toll free roads and didn't have much traffic. Ended up taking a route via Carcassonne, Narbonne and Perpignan to Roses.

Arrived by 8.15pm, parked and headed straight to the restaurant we normally go to. It was shut so we found another near the beach with a lovely Catalan menu. We also met an interesting retired English couple, who have French residency, who were staying one night in Roses on their way to stay with friends south of Girona. They used to live in Folkestone but sold up about 15 years ago and headed to the area between Bordeaux and Cognac and haven't been home since!

A delicious Catalan dinner - mixed paella followed by Crema Catalana. With the obligatory carafe of wine, sparkling water and snapps!

After dinner we grabbed a trolley from the reception area, loaded our stuff from the car and got it back to the apartment. Most of it is now unpacked and the bed is made. Just need to get breakfast stuff in the morning and a proper food shop sometime during the day. Forecast looks good for the next week so all is good 😄.
